The collection consists of video and audio recordings documenting the main events at the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest since its inception, and an original index to these recordings.
The collection consists of video and audio recordings documenting the main events at the Central European University (CEU) since its inception, such as seminars, lectures, press conferences, receptions and public events held at the Central European University, Budapest and an original index to these recordings.
The most significant part of the material comprises CEU's major annual events, such as the opening ceremony of the academic year and the graduation. Other events documented are the CEU rectors' inauguration, the most important international conferences, various symposiums, meetings, public lectures, debates and interviews hosted by CEU.
Highlights of the international conference recordings are: "Global Lecture Hall", "The Capitalist Threat", "Human Dignity Conference", "Rivers of Life or Rivers of Death?", "Between Past and Future: The Revolutions of 1989 and the Struggle for Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe" and "Transatlantic Dialogues." Other events include: "Soros Meets Students", "Giordano Bruno Statue Unveiling", "TGM Discussions", "CEU Endowment", "On Multi-stories History" or "Belgrade Professors at CEU."
Numerous distinguished personalities held public lectures at CEU, including Aziz Al-Azmeh, Donald M. Blinken, Leon Botstein, Gerhard Casper, the Dalai Lama, Gábor Demszky, Árpád Göncz, António Guterres, Caroline Hernandez, Michał Kulesza, Ira Lieberman, Aryeh Neier, Paul Ricoeur, George Soros, and Iván Szelényi.
Furthermore, a vast collection of interviews are to be found here, most of them with CEU affiliated personalities, particularly with the faculty’s administrative and academic staff. The collection contains also several documentaries and promotional videos, the latter category presenting various universities and institutions. Some tapes are recordings of TV or radio news about CEU, as part of the media monitoring commissioned by CEU.
