Mihály Csákó was Associate Professor and then Director of the ELTE Institute of Sociology and Social Policy. He was teaching and dealing with the characteristics of educational systems and the political socialization of societies.
His most important seminars included Introduction to Sociology, Research Seminar on Sociology of Youth, The Situation and Perspectives of University Students, European Education and Vocational Training, Reading and Writing Exercises in Sociology in Hungarian, and Core Course for the Sociology of Education Specialization Program in Sociology of Education.
He prepared the syllabus and lecture outlines for the Sociology of Vocational Training optional specialized sociology lectures.
He conducted field studies in the sociology of education, and carried out research with his students on Social actors in vocational education, Political socialization in primary school, Social structure, education, school, and Social stratification in housing estates.
A two-volume selection of papers on the Theory of Educational Systems deals with the situation of educational systems abroad, and several articles from the volume have been translated into Hungarian. Among the authors are Burton R. Clark, Tony Becher, Michael Pusey, and Svi Shairo.
The series includes fragments of educational sociology lecture outlines, tables, foreign literature, syllabi, outlines, handwritten notes that demonstrate Mihály Csákó's preparedness and the diligence with which he prepared for his seminars and lectures.
He has preserved the syllabi of courses offered at the Institute of Sociology and Social Policy, as well as the tests and assignments of the Introduction to Sociology seminar students.
The series contains background materials, lecture notes, foreign and Hungarian academic literature, many of which have been translated by Mihály Csákó himself.
