He served as the president of the Hungarian Sociological Association in 2000, vice president in 1999 and 2001, and a member of the board from 2002 until his passing. From 2002 until his death, he was a member of the Sociology Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and served as the chairman of the subcommittee on educational sociology from 2007 to 2010. Additionally, he was recognized among the members of the Work Science Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 2002 to 2010. He was active in the circles of organizations focused on computer science as well, being a member of the Neumann János Computer Science Society, as well as the Centre de coordination pour la Recherche et l'Enseignement en Informatique et Société (CREIS), which brought together educators and researchers studying the societal impacts of new information and communication technologies. His involvement in educational policy included participation in the editorial board of the journal "Educatio", where he also served as editor-in-chief.
