Scope and content (abstract)

The records of the International Human Rights Law Institute kept at OSA are copies of the reports and original background documents gathered by the United Nations Commission of Experts that was established in October 1992 to collect, examine and analyze evidence of grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions and other violations of international humanitarian law committed on the territory of former Yugoslavia between 1992-1994.

The records comprise the textual, video and audio materials that the Commission received from several Governments, as well as from inter-governmental and non-governmental bodies. The fonds also contains information from open sources and media reports.

The records provide unique insights into the issues of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, international law relating to war crimes, military operations in Bosnia during 1992-1994, the historical and political genesis of the conflict in former Yugoslavia.
