Scope and content (abstract)

The series contains news agency releases, newspaper clippings and copies of articles from scientific and other publications mainly from Croatia from the early and mid-1990's. The records include extensive information related to cultural, economic, political, security and social issues in Croatia from the time of the disintegration and collapse of Yugoslavia to the postwar reconstruction, the creation of civil society and all problems of social political and economic transition of a post-conflict society. Particularly important is the information on Croatia’s postwar development, the introduction of democracy and the development of the parliamentary system through the introduction of systematic reforms and the new constitution.

Of particular interest are the files on print and other media, which concern various problems, from those of daily life of ordinary citizens to daily politics, elections, etc. These files also cover the problematic economic development and the process of privatization which caused social problems and mass protests of workers. All this only illustrated the complex difficulties that the newly established democracy (which was still in war conflict) faced during this transition period.
