Content and structure
Scope and content (abstract)

Gábor Demszky was the first Mayor of Budapest after the regime change of 1989, keeping his office for five terms between 1990 and 2010. During these twenty years Budapest went through profound urban development while facing economic, social and political challenges in the post state socialist period and finding its place in the international political relations. A major factor in the history of Budapest was Hungary’s joining international treaties and the European Union.

The subfonds is made up of documents of organs closely related to the Mayor, including the documents of the sessions of the Mayor’s Cabinet and press releases of the Mayor’s Office between 1995 and 2010. The subfonds also includes the selected correspondence of Gábor Demszky as well as his publications, speeches and the recordings of television appearances.
