This series contains publications and periodicals, including an incomplete set of Index on Censorship, ranging from the very first issue up to the early nineties, a few newsletters, bulletins and annual reports of human rights organizations and a variety of newspapers and magazines from all over the world. The most comprehensive section of this series consists of periodicals - some of them samizdat publications - on and from Central and Eastern Europe, dealing mainly with the dissident movement in the countries from behind the Iron Curtain. Some of them, such as Cross Currents, KOSMAS, or Uncensored Poland: News Bulletin, regularly published banned literature, interviews with dissidents, and studies on the opposition movements.
